Ahhh the home thermostat. I have a love/hate relationship with mine. I love that it’s the one thing that keeps my home warm and cozy during the winter months and nice and cool during the summer months. However, I don’t like hate the way it looks!!
I knew there had to be a way to make it look ‘prettier’. Enter in Pinterest. The one stop shop for my ideas. I saw this picture of a DIY Framed Thermostat and immediately knew this is what I had to do.
I ventured off to Hobby Lobby (one of few stores I could spend hours in walking around), and hunted for the perfect frame. You want to make sure you find a frame that is just the frame. No glass or backing. It will be easier to work with.
However, if you have a frame you don’t know what to do with, or find a frame that has glass and backing, just discard that and by all means use the frame.
Once you buy your frame, you’re going to want to measure out the length so it will fit the way you want it to. I used painters tape (I had it in the house) to give me a visual of where the top of the frame was going to be placed. I also predetermined where my nail was going to go. (Clearly the whole above was from a previous mishap..eek).
After you measure it out, and put your nail in the wall, hang your frame 🙂
Voilà !! You now have a beautiful home thermostat!
