Today’s challenge is about my blog~ the why and the when. It’s amazing to me to see how my blog has completely transformed in two years. Not to mention the traffic has nearly tripled in just this short amount of time. I’m loving every single moment of it!
It all started back in January of 2011, when I was chosen by Glamour Magazine to be Rhode Island’s Glambassador, one of the 200+ most influential women across America to represent their state with the latest trends in the fashion and beauty industry. To be able to start and keep my new journey, one of the requirements was to have a blog or start one. I had to start one. We all know I’ve had a love for writing, so starting a blog seemed like it was perfect for me and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it sooner! So one Sunday night, my sister and I came up with the name and idea. The basic idea of it was to promote fashion and beauty trends as well as any events that were going to be happening in Rhode Island. My first post was on January 10 and it was a Ulta coupon and another blog titled “Steal this gorgeous look”. My posts were short and mostly quick snippets of the latest trends and any of my reviews I had to post for Glamour. I didn’t really put much heart into it. Meaning, I wasn’t making it personal. I never really thought about it until one day when I needed an outlet. I always found myself opening up Word to draft what was on my mind, very Carrie Bradshaw, because I found it much easier for me to type rather than write. So my first post was on March 3, 2011 titled “Glamour-ous”. It was the first time I actually blogged about my life rather than a just a quick review. I then realized how easy it was for me and I truly enjoyed it. I then decided to continue to try and open up a little bit more and I found that many people could relate to me and on the flip side I also felt better. My tab “Just a little thought…” was created and now holds many of my thoughts and feelings.
I am beyond grateful for Glamour giving me the opportunity to begin this new wonderful journey two years ago, (and I am still very grateful to be the one and only Glambassador for RI). This blog has opened many doors and opportunities for me and I am very excited to see where it takes me.
